A single tooth dental implant is used to replace a single missing tooth, or a tooth that has been extracted due to damage, decay, or wear and tear. A single tooth dental implant is made up of 3 components, a titanium screw– that is affixed to the jawbone, an abutment that connects the titanium screw and the prosthesis hence crown and a crown.
It is always best to replace a missing or extracted tooth if possible. Missing teeth can cause a multitude of oral and dental health issues, including bone loss and movement of the adjacent teeth and other teeth to some extent. It can also cause psychological distress in the patient, whether because it is harder to eat or speak, or because it is causing them to feel self-conscious about their teeth and smile. A single tooth dental implant provides a great solution to all these issues.
Single tooth dental implants are applied over a series of appointments, and the process can take a few months to complete. We will first have to evaluate the health of your jaw to be sure you are a suitable candidate for an implant. Once this has been established, the implant will be fixed in place at your first appointment. There will then be a wait of a few months while the implant and the jaw fuse together, at which point you’ll return to the practice to have your prosthetic tooth made. We will be able to provide you with a temporary bridge or denture during this period.

We will first have to ascertain if you’re a suitable candidate for the treatment, as implant retained dentures require a healthy jawbone to be successful. Once this has been established, we’ll see you for your implant retained dentures over several appointments. There will be a pause of several months in between affixing the implants and applying the prosthetic teeth to give the implants time to properly fuse with the jawbone, a process called osteointegration.
You should expect the treatment to take between four and seven months from start to finish.Implant retained bridges:
We often recommend implant retained bridges to our patients with multiple missing teeth.
Implant retained bridges offer patients a comfortable, secure, and natural looking way to replace multiple missing or damaged teeth. Held in place by implants, this treatment can bring back full function and aesthetics.
Implant retained bridges are made of a combination of a metal support structure and a porcelain prosthetic tooth or teeth.
